We have known about the incredible benefits of chia seeds for a while, but BBC has just published an interesting article about these little gems.
They also mentioned an important piece of information about the status of Chia Seeds when it comes to the novel foods act:
In the UK, the seeds are only currently allowed for sale as a bread ingredient, but over the next few weeks, the Advisory Committee on Novel Foods and Processes is poised to allow chia seeds in a wide variety of products including baked goods, breakfast cereals and nut and seed mixes.
So, hopefully, finally, chia seeds will be full appreciated in this country as they should have been for a long time!
